Episode 232: Digging Into Who You Really Are with Trina Washington

Faith, family and a lot of life experience has taught Director of Security at PSEG Nuclear, Trina Washington, a few things about herself and where she truly wants to be in life. By sharing her personal journey, Trina evokes a passion for understanding what her life's purpose really is.

In this episode, we learn how to listen to ourselves in order to understand where our next turn should be in life. We take a deep dive into reflecting on what our journey has been thus far, and how our faith can truly guide our future. Trina also helps us explore how feeding into others can be the answer we needed all along.

About Trina Washington

Trina Washington is the Director of Security at PSEG Nuclear. She leads a multi-disciplined, high-performing group of defense specialists tasked with preserving the integrity of the organization’s nuclear assets, while simultaneously protecting the wellbeing of the public and the local employee base.  The vision for Trina and her organization is to be a Leader iSafety, Security, and Service.  As a servant leader, this is a staple for Trina, she prides herself on serving others, both professionally and personally, as well as inspiring them to discover their best selves.

Prior to joining PSEG, Trina dedicated twenty years of service to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, ascending to Senior Executive rank in the second largest field office in the country after completing several counterterrorism and specialty assignments – both Domestic and International.

While with the Bureau, Trina focused on catalyzing process improvements and investigating high-profile assignments. She came to the agency after starting her career as a State Trooper with the Pennsylvania State Police, a monumental chapter in her life where her roots of strength, and endurance would be grounded.  .

Trina received her Bachelor of Political Science from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia and earned her Master of Arts degree in Strategic Foresight from the School of Business & Leadership at Regent University, Virginia. Trina finds divine treasure in spending time with her family, spiritual circle, cooking, and unwinding on the beach.

QUOTABLES:

“My motto is to never, ever come in last.”

“When you can inspire and motivate yourself, there’s always someone that’s watching.”

“If your heart isn’t right, you’ve got to reflect.”

“I lean on my ability to sit back and allow others to do things differently than how I would do them.”

“We all have a seed inside of us that we just have to get to.”

QUICKFIRE QUESTIONS:

  1. What are some of the things you do to take care of yourself? That’s something I’m still working on. We’re all guilty, especially women, of not taking care of ourselves the way we should. I’m trying to spend more time building my spirit through meditation, carve out time to work out, and what brings me great joy is spending time with my family.
  2. What is one quote, or a quote, you live by? You reap what you sow. That is something that I really try to live by every single day. If you can pour into others and you can help someone else, then it will come back to you, God will reward you for taking care of his children.
  3. What do you put on to feel most powerful? Wow! My attitude. I try to check my attitude to make sure I can put on the right attitude. My attitude is really important for people to hear what I have to say.
  4. Where is your favorite place to vacation? The beach. It doesn’t matter where. My family and I went to St. Maarten and it was lovely.
  5. What are some of the things you do that when you do them, you feel like you are most yourself? When I’m in my prayer circle and we’re studying and lifting one another up. When I’m spending time with my best girlfriends and I can let my hair down, but not in a way that is offensive to someone else. Also, time with my husband. We are in a new relationship in our marriage.
